A look around Shimokitazawa in Tokyo, Japan - an alternative area with thrift stores, street art, unique fashion, quirky cafes and cosy bars.
While I love Harajuku, every time I go there it's more touristy and crowded. It feels less like the real centre of fashion subcultures in Tokyo. So: could Shimokitazawa be the new Harajuku? It certainly has a different vibe, and a less cute and kawaii style - but take a look in my video tour, looking around the shops, at the street art and the picturesque Japanese streets. Shimokitazawa's only a few minutes from Shibuya and Shinjuku on the train, and a great place to go shopping or people-watching on your second or third trip to Tokyo.
